I am a fully qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and I offer individual and confidential face-to-face therapy to adults. Previously, I have worked with a wide variety of people of all ages, from many diverse backgrounds and with varying problems and issues.
Over the years I have found that my counselling work has become more of a passion than simply a profession.
I have found the best way to work with my clients is to give them the opportunity to bring whatever they wish to discuss to our sessions so that we can work through all problems and issues together. I aspire to create a professional relationship so that we can achieve the best outcome. For me the wellbeing of my client is paramount. I work mostly using an integrative approach which combines Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness. Meaning I am able to draw upon different approaches to best meet your needs.
It's common for people to confuse counselling and psychotherapy, but they have distinct differences. Counselling is a shorter-term process that supports individuals in their day-to-day lives and explores issues to some depth, including relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, and common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is a long-term process that involves deep emotional work and self-discovery with the therapist's close support. It aims to shift an individual's way of being, such as altering belief sets resulting from past neglect.
At Relational Psychotherapy, I offer both counselling and psychotherapy and work with individuals on a short or long-term basis, depending on their needs. The therapist-client relationship is crucial in both counselling and psychotherapy, and I prioritize ensuring that clients get what they need from the therapeutic space. Whether you're unsure of what you need or have a clear idea, I can be here for you.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process traumatic experiences and reduce the emotional distress associated with them. By engaging bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements—EMDR helps reprocess disturbing memories, enabling you to integrate them into a healthier mental framework.
EMDR is particularly effective for individuals suffering from complex PTSD, PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related conditions. It facilitates healing by targeting the root cause of distress, offering relief from overwhelming emotions and allowing you to regain control over your life.
If trauma has been holding you back, or keeping you stuck from moving forward with yourself and aspects of your life EMDR can be a transformative tool for reclaiming your peace and resilience. Example of this maybe flashbacks, a heightened stress response to everyday environments or a jumping startle response. Are you struggling with an important decision and unsure of the best course of action?
Do you need immediate support to ease a pressing concern?
Are you feeling anxious about an upcoming event and looking for strategies to manage it?
Single Session Therapy (SST) is a focused, goal-oriented approach designed to address specific concerns efficiently. This model is particularly effective for short-term issues, providing clients with immediate strategies and insights in a structured and supportive setting.
Before the session, a 10-minute telephone consultation is arranged to gain a brief understanding of the issue and assess suitability. The full session, lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes, is then conducted either in person or online via Zoom.
If further support is needed beyond the initial session, additional appointments can be arranged to continue working towards your goals.

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern, evidence-based approach that combines clinical hypnosis with solution-focused brief therapy. Unlike traditional methods that focus on past traumas, SFH encourages individuals to concentrate on the present and future, identifying strengths and developing positive coping strategies. It is particularly effective for stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Through guided relaxation and positive suggestion, it helps rewire negative thought patterns, promoting a calmer, more solution-oriented mindset.
During a session, I combine talking therapy with hypnosis to help clients focus on solutions rather than problems. We identify strengths, set goals, and enter a relaxed state where the subconscious mind becomes more open to positive change. Hypnotherapy engages the brain’s problem-solving areas, reducing stress and shifting thought patterns toward a more balanced perspective. SFH helps individuals regain confidence, ease emotional distress, and develop a positive outlook. It is especially beneficial for those feeling stuck in negative cycles or overwhelmed by worry. Many clients feel calmer, more in control, and better able to manage daily life after just a few sessions. This gentle yet effective therapy empowers individuals to take charge of their mental well-being, fostering lasting change and resilience.
